Lady Catherine and the Real Downton Abbey

Calling all Downton Abbey fans! The Bath Literature Festival presents Lady Catherine and the Real Downton Abbey with the Countess of Carnarvon on 6th March. The truth can often be even more exciting than fiction, and the unique chance to hear the tale of how Lady Catherine took on the running of the real Downton Abbey at the age of just 18 is one fans of the show won’t want to miss.

The talk focuses on the follow-up book to Lady Almina and the Real Downton Abbey and guests can book a ticket just to listen (which is £10) or including lunch (which is £23). After all that talk of the glamorous life in the building that inspired Downton Abbey you’ll be in the mood to retire to a room that’s almost as plush, and if you choose the Royal Hotel you won’t be disappointed.

The listed building dates back to the Victorian era, and if you book one of the four poster bedrooms you’ll be able to continue daydreaming long after the talk! Better yet, have a look at the spa breaks in Bath offered by the hotel, as you’ll be able to enjoy some pampering while you’re there.
