Each room individually decorated

Standard Rooms

All of our bedrooms have been individually designed and decorated in a traditional style, in keeping with the character of this lovely Grade II listed Victorian era building.  High quality beds with luxurious soft duvets and goose feather and down pillows will ensure a good night’s sleep.

Classic Rooms

Reflecting the full glory of The Royal’s 175 year history, our newly refurbished Classic bedrooms are stylishly understated providing guests with a peaceful, relaxing retreat. Soft furnishings in relaxing muted tones, walls boast silky damask patterns and vintage wallpapers, all contrasting with accents of black, picked out in the stylish ebony effect furniture with brass detailing and stunning bespoke artwork.

Our rooms include the following facilities

  • En suite
  • Flat Screen TV with digital channels
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Complimentary quality teas, freshly ground coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits and mineral water
  • Hair dryers
  • Quality toiletries
  • Cotton bathrobes and slippers provided in the 4 poster and superior rooms
  • Direct dial telephone
  • All bedrooms are non-smoking

Wheelchair Accessibility

Regretfully our bedrooms are not suitable for wheelchair users, and our lift is not large enough to accommodate both a wheelchair and a passenger. This is due to the fact that the property was built in 1846, and is also Grade Two listed, which restricts us from making major structural alterations.

Our ground floor restaurant and bar are wheelchair accessible, and we have a small ramp for our front door access. Please advise us on arrival should you require the ramp to be put in place for you.

We receive lots of compliments from guests who have enjoyed their stay at The Royal and the following are some of their comments about our rooms:-
