What People Say About Us

We receive lots of letters of compliment from guests who have enjoyed their stay at The Royal and the following are some of these comments:-

"Perfect location and a dreamy sleep”

I booked this hotel whilst I was looking around bath university, it's a short walk from either coach or train station (3 minutes or less) the staff in all parts of the hotel, restaurant, bar, and reception were all charming, friendly, and had a great sense of humour and couldn't have been more helpful. Room - spacious, clean, well maintained bathroom, and the comfiest beds I have come across in a hotel, I slept like a baby for the two nights stay. Bar - you just order your drinks to bring up to your room they put it on your tab for you or you can sit in the bar area which has a fir else cosy atmosphere. Restaurant - Big surprise! The choice and quality of breakfast in the morning was better than I anticipated, and I dined here the two nights I stayed due to the quality of choice and products on the menu. Really enjoyable food, even if I wasn't staying at the hotel and visited bath again I'd come for the food. Overall cannot fault this hotel. Also don't worry about hearing the trains as your so close you can't hear a thing.

"Friendly good value hotel”

We stayed 1-3 Feb on Travelzoo deal. The hotel is very convenient for everything in Bath. Staff are very friendly and really helpful. The room was fine with great tea/coffee tray and, even though we were at the front we were not disturbed by noise outside. Food is very very good--excellent choice at breakfast of both cooked and cereals; fruit; pastries. Dinner choice was also excellent--we had steak both nights and it was well cooked and very tasty.  Nice to stay in a character hotel in the middle of the city. Thoroughly recommended

"Two day break. Travelzoo recommended”

Having read the reviews submitted to Trip advisor which were very favourable we decided to visit the hotel for a mid week break. I can confirm that everything said about the friendly staff, excellent menu, spotlessly clean and great chef . You cannot fault any aspect of this lovely Hotel. We were welcomed by the receptionist " Issy" with a lovely smile, nothing too much trouble for her. I would recommend the Royal Hotel which is ideally situated across the road from the Railway Station and very near the shopping centre.

"Chill out time with daughter”

My daughter and I stayed at this hotel for a 2 night break 1st-3rd Feb, and totally enjoyed the experience. A stone’s throw away from train station so arrived and checked in within minutes. The room was clean, warm and had everything you needed. All the staff were friendly and welcoming nothing too much trouble. The breakfast and evening meal were plentiful and enough choice for anyone. Town centre was on doorstep so no need for buses or taxis. We had a trip on tour bus to see the places of interest you could hop on and off if you wanted. Also spent 4hrs in the Spa which included a 50min treatment and the most bizarre experience of being in an open air pool with temperature outside of minus 1 degree!!! Would recommend a stay at this lovely old and welcoming hotel if you are visiting Bath.

Before booking I consulted TripAdvisor.  You have certainly lived up to your reputation. Outstanding value for money.  Everywhere spotless.  Great chef.

"Royal Hotel Bath”

I have stayed in this several times. It is conveniently located opposite the main railway station which makes days out by rail an easy option. Cheap fares available after the morning peak. The Bath tour bus stops nearby. All aspects of the service are first class .I particularly rate the breakfast with a multitude of fresh fruit, yoghurt and a varied main menu .I would recommend a stay in this hotel to any prospective visitor.

"Lovely hotel”

A very pleasant over night stay was had at this hotel. Yes it’s an old building so full of the quirks you would expect. I found the decor charming and in keeping with the age of the building. Yes there is traffic noise but as it is so near the city centre and located next to the railway station this wasn't a surprise. The convenience of its location outweighed this negative and anyway I didn't find the level of noise at least disturbing. The staff were so lovely and the service excellent. We had a deal which included dinner and breakfast. The food was of good quality, the breakfast a real treat. The rooms were of a good size as were the bathrooms, clean and well presented. The room extras i.e. beverages etc. were better than most 'chain' hotels and the beds were very comfy. All in all a lovely hotel with a personal touch I would happily stay there again

"Lovely hotel, great position”

Small, friendly run hotel. Very clean, fantastic bedroom, comfy beds and bedding. Lovely tray with cafetiere, as well as many lovely biscuits (really nice touch). The bistro which we eat in both nights had a great choice, unusual to have a choice for vegetarians ! Great food when it arrived, really nice and interesting. The hotel was very quiet and in a great position for shops, bars & general site seeing. The train station is directly opposite, so ideal if you arriving by train. We booked the car park which was a god send as parking seemed to be difficult & expensive around Bath.

"Good hotel”

The Royal Hotel is an older hotel, and the rooms reflect this but it was clean, comfortable and warm. We had a good deal which included breakfast and dinner. The decor in the dining room and bar were modern and the food was good This Hotel is very central, almost in the middle of the city. Bath is a wonderful city and well worth a visit.

"Night away in Bath”

Really enjoyed our one night stay. The room was clean with lovely extra touches like a cafetiere instead of instant coffee. The staff were friendly and helpful we turned up on the wrong date and they were able to accommodate us. Location is excellent for the city centre. We were on a Travelzoo offer and the deal was extremely good value for money. Can't fault anything, and would definitely stay here again when in Bath.

"Weekend in Bath”

We got to the hotel around 4pm and I was a bit dismayed to find it was next to the train station, but I now admit I was so pleasantly deceived. The interior is true to the hotels origins as a Victorian marvel but renewed to show the true splendour of its origins. It was designed by the late, great, Mr I. K. Brunel who designed and worked on all of the Great Western Railway throughout his lifetime. It is a beautiful establishment, and that beauty is augmented by staff who are friendly helpful and hard working, nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them and they were only too pleased to facilitate our wants and desires. There is a restaurant in the hotel is called the Brasserie Brunel and the food was excellent, it is styled on a Parisian brasserie and the food is fantastic as is the service. We dined there after a session in the Thermae Spa, which I will review in another post, and left the table replete with ample sufficiency. The quality of the meal was very good and the service was attentive without being overbearing, the wine selection was I feel the best wine of the weekend and an excellent accompaniment to a wonderful first night meal. I offer my great thanks to all the staff who helped us have such a brilliant weekend in a cold wet and windy January.

"Visit 26th November 2014”

We stayed overnight en route to Southampton, travelling by train. We'd previously stayed 4 nights about 10 years ago when we had an excellent visit. The same happened this time. Staff were all very helpful in a friendly but efficient manner. Our room and en suite were of a high standard as was breakfast. We didn't eat other meals in the hotel as were eating out with family. Proximity to the railway station couldn't be better! The Abbey and city centre are about 5 minutes walk from the hotel.

"Lovely hotel perfect location”

Stayed at the hotel after booking a Travelzoo deal. Staff were excellent and very helpful. Food was good value in the restaurant and cream tea with scones, champagne and fruit in room were nice touches that made stay that bit better. Will definitely book again.

"Excellent stay in great hotel.”

We booked this hotel after seeing the deal on Travelzoo. We telephoned the hotel and booked for one night as a birthday treat. The deal was B&B, evening dinner with a glass of champagne & a cream tea! We arrived too early to check in but could leave our luggage so we could go off and do a bit of browsing & shopping. When we came back to check in all went very smoothly & we were greeted by a very pleasant receptionist. We were in room 209,second floor overlooking the street, the only downside was traffic noise. We booked to dine at 7-30 where we got our glass of champagne whilst browsing the menu. We could select from items marked with an asterisk or could order up to £22 from the menu. We chose to do this as we only like 2 courses, I had asparagus with poached egg it was delicious! My husband had Brie & Mediterranean vegetables on bruschetta which he thoroughly enjoyed. We both settled on sirloin steak which was cooked perfectly, this came with mushroom, tomato & watercress & choice of potatoes. I had new potatoes my husband had fries both excellent. We shared a bottle of wine which was very good. The bedroom was adequately furnished, we only had a shower which was a disappointment as after wandering around the shops I like a nice soak in a bath. There was some noise from the street during the night but not too bad .Breakfast was superb, help yourself to cereals, fruit, yogurts croissants etc. The waiter came to see if we wanted tea or coffee and what cooked breakfast and toast we wanted. I had eggs Benedict my husband had the full English all was perfectly cooked. We had white & brown toast and my husband had two cafetieres of coffee .After checking out we left our luggage to go for a bit more retail therapy! We came back to have our cream tea which consisted of 4 warm fruit scones, clotted cream two pots of strawberry jam & a pot of tea for two. We thought the deal at £99 for the two of us was a brilliant price and one which we intend taking up again for another birthday next month!

"A lovely hotel with very helpful and friendly staff”

We stayed at this hotel for a few days with our little baby boy. Staff here were very helpful. Setting up a travel cot in our room before we arrived as well as a baby bath, changing mat and blankets. The room was a good size and very tidy. Food was great. We had 3 course evening meals and breakfasts which were included in our stay. We used the room service facilities on one of the nights as our baby was restless. Staff were very accommodating to our needs and brought all food and drinks to our door which was amazing. The hotel itself is very well situated being directly opposite the train/bus station and close to the city centre. We will certainly return to this hotel again any time we stay in Bath. Highly recommended.

"Royal Hotel Bath”

We had a lovely stay at this hotel for three nights in December 2014, while the Christmas market was on in Bath. This was our first stay at the hotel and we were very impressed. Firstly the hotel is right opposite the main station so coming by train it was perfectly situated and it was only a short, level walk to Bath Abbey and the Georgian heart of Bath, so perfect also for sight seeing. The hotel is a Victorian building designed by Brunel, which has been well maintained and decorated throughout, so it has character. It is privately owned and not part of a chain and the management have given a lot of attention to detail. Our double room was a good size, comfortable and well fitted with an excellent tea and coffee tray. It was clean and well serviced. The hotel has its own restaurant which provides an excellent menu and we found the meals very well cooked and good value. We liked the fresh cooked breakfast, which was commended by my wife who likes bacon fresh cooked and not kept heated till it is like leather. We found the service in the restaurant and throughout the hotel efficient and friendly. All in all very impressed and we have been recommending the hotel to all our friends and will make it our hotel of choice when we visit Bath again.

"All-round great experience”

My mother and I came to Bath for the Christmas market. It seemed like all the rooms in Bath were full but we managed to snag one room for one night at the Royal Hotel and we were very pleasantly surprised! Location was absolutely perfect for us as we travelled by train and the Royal Hotel is right opposite the station. All in all, the staff were friendly, the room was comfortable and breakfast was delicious. Would stay here again given the opportunity.

"Highly recommended!”

I stayed here for 2 nights from 11th- 13th December with my mum for the Bath Christmas market. When arrived at the hotel was met by very friendly staff at reception. The room was very nice and spacious with lovely modern bathroom. Bed was very comfy with lovely fluffy pillows which makes a nice change from many hotels I've stayed in. The hotel is in perfect location being directly opposite the station and very close to all the shops and restaurants. Although it was a Friday night I didn't find noise too bad with people leaving pubs etc and we were right out the front of the hotel. The breakfast was excellent. Very good choice of cooked breakfast and continental with fruit, croissants cereals etc. Anytime I visit Bath in the future I will definitely choose the Royal Hotel. It offers excellent value for money in great location. Can't wait to go back!

Stayed for 2 nights, 9th-11th December for the Bath Christmas Market. Perfectly located opposite Bath Spa Station, no need to drive! Easy one and a half hour trip from London. Lovely quaint cosy hotel with friendly welcoming helpful and polite staff. Very comfortable bedroom for a good night's sleep. Beautiful bathroom with lovely fresh hot fluffy towels! Breakfast is full and plenty, choice of cooked or buffet is excellent. Efficient and quick service. All very British and traditional! Loved it and love Bath. "Lovely experience in Bath”

Stayed at the hotel for 1 night on the 2nd December and must say the convenience was fantastic. It was across from Bath Spa and there is no necessity to drive to Bath. "The Royal Hotel Bath”

This hotel, designed by the acclaimed engineer Brunel, is conveniently situated directly opposite Bath Spa railway station. Although we arrived three hours prior to check in time, we were able to store our luggage in a locked area. We took advantage of the DBB offer of £60 per person per night. Our standard twin room with en suite ( no bath,) was spacious and very comfortable. The highlight was the superb three course evening menu .The variety of choice for each course made selection difficult. An A * for presentation, combination and taste. Compliments to the chef and kitchen staff and restaurant service. Every member of staff we met was a great ambassador for this hotel I can thoroughly recommend this as a genuine value for money break.

"Brilliant Hotel”

I have just come back Bath where I had a lovely stay at this hotel. I shared a twin room with my sister which was comfortable and spacious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had an evening meal one night and this was delicious. The location was perfect as we had a parking space which meant we did not have to drive anywhere, all the shops were in walking distance. The reason for our visit was the Christmas market, I had always wanted to visit one and I have to say I was not disappointed. We would visit this hotel again.

"Two day short stay”

We literally phoned and arrived it was just before the Winter Fair, amazing we got in plus parking a big bonus. Staff were fantastic and helpful. Wifi only downstairs in bar area but that was fine. Breakfast plentiful. Elegant building. Room adequate but being the last room it was a shower not a bath. Clean and comfy and not far from lift. A bit noisy very late but not for long. A lovely few minutes walk to Abbey and Baths. Definitely go again. We loved both hotel and City.

"Great Value”

What a great hotel designed by the engineer Brunel. Not many people knew he designed this hotel. A lovely tea tray with a teapot & a coffee cafetiere. A variety of teas too. Had everything you needed ie, ironing board & iron. Full length mirror behind wardrobe door. The room was a nice size. Lovely choice at breakfast & we had a lovely evening meal too. The hotel was across from the train station. The staff are friendly & helpful. Will return next year, my friend had has stayed there 3 times.

Could see the train platform from our room, which was fun, but couldn't hear any trains, though did hear someone shouting in the street in middle of night, but could happen anywhere. Would definitely stay there again next time I go to Bath.

"Absolutely recommended”

It's very easy to find, just few steps away the train station of Bath Spa, and in a very good position, very close to the city centre and all the main attractions, such as the romans' bath. Although it is just a 3 stars hotel rooms are very spacious and I've hardly seen in my life a hotel so clean and tidy. Very friendly and available staff who helped us in whatever our needs were.

"Lovely Hotel”

I stayed in a twin room with my friend. What a wonderful experience! The room was clean, with an ensuite shower/toilet. (I noticed that other hotels within a similar price range had shared bathroom facilities.) Breakfast was included in the price, and was lovely (the usual full English, buffet cereals, juice, yoghurts, croissants etc). They were happy to cater for my Coeliac needs. The staff were friendly and informative. I went through Bookings.com which made it MORE EXPENSIVE! I should've gone directly to the hotel. Ah, well, live and learn. The best thing about the hotel was how unbelievably close to the train and bus stations and to town it is. I would highly recommend this hotel and I would go back there if I ever went back to Bath again.

"Fantastic Stay”

We stayed on Saturday night having been recommended by a friend, we were not disappointed. The room was excellent and spotlessly clean with nice little touches like a cafetiere. We could not fault the food and the staff were welcoming and extremely attentive. "Fab weekend break!”

Fantastic weekend in bath in this brilliant hotel! Central to all attractions and bars. Hotel was spotless and the attention to detail was great with fresh coffee, lovely toiletries and magazines in the room. The bar area was friendly with reasonably priced drinks. The restaurant served superb food with professional, friendly staff. We were able to park our car on site which was ideal. This central location was great for our party of 4 and not any more noisy than you would expect if you want to stay in the middle of a town !

"Ideally situated for visitors to Bath travelling by train”

I have given this hotel v.good marks based on the location of the hotel to Bath railway station, in essence, across the road. Also on the most friendly and helpful members of staff, including the kitchen staff and cleaners. We had a lovely 3 night break here and paid a little extra for a larger room with a 4 poster bed. There are the usual tea and coffee making facilities in each room. We also had an ironing board, trouser press, and hairdryer available. The restaurant where breakfast and dinner is served is a pleasant area, plenty of room to move around. Our evening meal at a fixed rate was 3 course, served hot and presented well. The breakfast menu was varied and interesting, something for everyone, from full English breakfast to continental, fruits, yoghurts, juices, pastries, and kippers. Service was prompt and efficient, breakfast food was served freshly cooked, with eggs to your liking. Patrons are required to book out by 11am, but there is a secure room where luggage can be left at no extra cost until you are ready to leave the area. There is a small lift to the higher floors. My only advisory note would be that rooms to the front of the hotel which is where we were sited might be noisy to anyone not used to city living, or who cannot tolerate night noise. That said, there is triple glazing and it did not interfere with our comfort at all.

"Exceeded our expectations”

We booked a weekend spa package to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The room was excellent - the same one shown in the web page. A warm welcome from the friendly and helpful staff. The bar staff were also friendly and efficient. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and the food and service were excellent. The same was true of the breakfast. We are a well travelled couple who have stayed in more hotels than you could shake a stick at and this was as good as the best we have ever encountered. If this review seems over the top it is because our anniversary was so special and the choice of hotel could either make or break a very special occasion - The Royal made it extra special.

October 2014 - TripAdvisor

"Excellent yet again!!!!”

We would like to direct this review to Ron Zanre, Owner. We have visited this hotel on many occasions and think that some of the reviews have been totally unfair to you and your staff. We understand that things can occasionally go wrong and people need to complain but we are sure that they would be have been dealt with satisfactorily. We have had the pleasure of meeting your staff on at least 4 occasions and feel we know them well enough to say that they would have dealt with problems with efficiency and professionalism. Our visit we were greeted by a lovely lady on reception, she was friendly helpful and a delight to meet after our journey. Our room (204) was clean and comfortable with secondary double glazed windows which cut all the noise from the road and station out (we were right at the front of the hotel). Room was warm because of time of year and we used the cooling fan supplied in the room. One night it was colder and we requested a heater as the central heating was not on at the time of year and it was supplied immediately. Food was excellent with plenty of choice. It was all freshly cooked. Waiting staff were lovely friendly people who attended to our every wish. There was a small problem with the parking one day. We had booked our parking but someone else had used the space. The Manager dealt with the problem straight away and in fact gave us his parking space until ours was available the next day. He could not have been more helpful. The staff in general have always been exceptionally friendly and efficient. We have never had cause to complain about their service. The cleaning staff are marvellous. A special mention to Maureen and Ann and especially to the Housekeeper, Marion who went out of her way to specially help us and has always been friendly and helpful. We would like to make it clear to people who stay here that it is an old hotel with all original features maintained as far as possible but with the addition of a few home comforts such as secondary glazed windows and heating. The floorboards creak, the rooms are individual with unusual decor in some cases. But this is what makes this hotel beautiful, no need to change a thing.

"Exactly what we were after”

Stayed here for the weekend having booked a four poster room and tickets for the rugby. Yes it may not be the most modern of hotel and it doesn't have air conditioning but then who comes to Bath for a weekend to stay in a hotel room. This hotel has at least got character unlike the more sterile approach you seem to get in more modern hotels (eg Travelodge, Holiday Inn) The hotel is very clean and tidy, rooms are comfortable and all of the staff we interacted with were very nice, professional and helpful. So if you want somewhere with character, a great location and great staff I can highly recommend the Royal Hotel.

"Excellent city break”

As a surprise for my husband's birthday, I had booked a two night spa break with dbb at the Royal hotel. I think the biggest treat for us was that the grandparents had the kids for the weekend ;o) The deal was excellent value at £210 each over a weekend for DBB, two nights stay, champagne cream tea and a spa visit each. We parked in the Manvers Street car park over the two days as the hotel car park was fully booked. This cost £12.50 per day but was a short 5 minute walk from the hotel. We had a superior room (room 104) which was lovely. It was decorated in traditional style and everything was clean and well looked after. The bathroom was lovely, we had a large bath with good shower and plenty of fluffy white towels. We were also impressed by the large wardrobe and free safe - you don't get those things as standard very much at all these days! One of the best things about this hotel was the staff. Everyone we met was so lovely and friendly. On the second day we popped back to our room to get our robes and towels prior to our spa visit and the housekeepers stopped me to ask whose birthday it was (I had bought my husband a birthday cake which was on the side in our room). I told her and when we returned to our room later that day prior to dinner, they had laid out chocolates on our bed spelling out HB - such a lovely touch and indicative of the personal service you receive. We stayed on DBB terms and were very pleased we did. The breakfasts were exceptional and of very good quality. My husband thinks you can judge the breakfast by the quality of the sausage, which he said was outstanding. I had eggs Benedict one day and smoked salmon & scrambled eggs the second, again all very well cooked and presented. We had plenty of toast, croissants, juice and cafetiere coffee too which was great. Dinners were equally good and there was a great choice on the menu - if you wanted something off of the set menu, it was no problem and you just paid the little extra. The steaks are of particular note, very well cooked and delicious. Service was attentive. We had the champagne cream tea on the Saturday afternoon which was lovely - it was also good that you could choose when you wanted to use each of the vouchers for the break so that you could build your break around your schedule. We loved Bath and found the hotel was easily in walking distance of the main attractions - we visited the Roman Baths (5 minutes away), Abbey (5 minutes), Royal Crescent (15 minutes), Circus (10 minutes) and Odeon cinema (10 minutes). We didn't have to use our car once whilst we were there. We would definitely recommend the Royal Hotel to any one and would stay again if in the area. We have a wonderfully relaxing break made all the better by the lovely staff.

"What a great place”

We have just returned from a night at the Royal. Our room was 103, first floor. The room had all the things you need plus a large bathroom. The best part about the Hotel is the staff, friendly, keen to please and always smiling. We ate on site and the food was great. Yes, you may be able to get the same dishes elsewhere cheaper, but the service was first class and the food was cooked to perfection. Free wifi is on offer and also a list of dvd's you can borrow free of charge. We found the best place to park was opposite at the rail station, but beware it states that the car park is for rail users only. The location of the hotel is very central, so park up and walk. You are not far from all the attractions.

August 2014 - TripAdvisor

"A charming and central hotel”

We chose the Royal because of its close proximity to the train station, We found the Hotel to be very central to many and varied restaurants plus a new shopping centre. The hotel staff were extremely efficient and friendly and made us very welcome. The room had all the amenities expected and very comfortable. The ambience of the breakfast / dining room is superb as is the food which has a wide ranging menu. In all a very memorable stay.

"Great location, good value, excellent staff”

This hotel has a very good deal for 2 nights dinner, bed and breakfast at the moment and we booked on that basis. If you book it through Visit Bath's website you will also get 2 free tickets to the Roman Baths, which is a really enjoyable visit and well worth an hour or more, especially in the evening (July and August) as it's torch-lit. The hotel was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and is historic and solid. Recent decorating in the dining room give it a French bistro feel which is warm and welcoming. The food both at breakfast and dinner was very good and the staff on duty were always efficient, helpful and friendly. The bedroom we had was a reasonable size and nicely decorated, the bed was comfortable and there was a ceiling fan, which was much appreciated as the weather was hot while we were there. There was also a sofa in the room. The bathroom was recently renovated with an excellent shower and the towels were large and fluffy. In addition to the usual coffee and tea, there was fresh ground coffee and a cafetiere which was a lovely touch. The hotel is very well located, opposite the railway station and only a couple of minutes walk through the newer shopping area to the historic centre. It is not part of a chain and that is obvious from the attitude of the manager and staff; all are unfailingly helpful and willing to go the extra mile to make your stay a happy one. If you come by car book a space for it in the (very small) car park at the rear when you book your room. Parking in Bath is awful and pricey. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel.

"An enjoyable stay; good value”

Stayed for the night and found it great value for money. We had the Spa package and really enjoyed it. The staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. Our Champagne Cream Tea was enjoyed while we relaxed in the bar. We decided later to eat out, the staff were very helpful in their suggestions and afterwards relaxed in our room which was clean, tidy and comfortable, giving a lovely sleep. Breakfast the next day gave a lovely choice and was enjoyable. After breakfast we walked through the beautiful city to the Thermae Spa Bath and spent a couple of hours relaxing, and boy is it relaxing. Our stay was thoroughly enjoyed staying in this lovely, historic listed building designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, built in 1846. Because of this the building retains character, which is something to be respected. The Royal is great value for money and we certainly want to return.

"Great value for money and location”

Booked this hotel for a two night stay, with their package deal of DBB on both nights plus a bottle of wine in the room, room had everything that you would need, tastefully decorated and very clean. They even sorted out tickets, towels and slippers for the Thermae Spa for us. Breakfast was great and plentiful, evening meal was just as good, as was the service. The location of the hotel is ideal for everything, all within a 2 minute walk of shops, Roman baths and canal. You would be very hard pushed to find anything as good and at such fantastic prices anywhere else. Go and enjoy this hotel, we did.

"Lovely experience”

This is my second stay at the Royal in just over a year. I can find nothing to criticise at all, in fact all that I can do is recommend!! The staff are attentive and polite at all times-especially the Restaurant Team. Such lovely food-I had Breakfast and dined later in the day in The Brasserie Brunel. The Menu suits all tastes and is beautifully cooked and presented. The rooms are decorated to suit the period of the building-no air conditioning but fans are easily available and this was really no problem. I only needed a sheet on the bed during the whole of my stay. The last time I stayed at the Royal was during the Winter and I was as snug as a bug in a rug!! This Hotel is well worth a try-the central location is worth its weight in gold and you will not be disappointed.

"Great 2 nights in Bath”

We stayed here for 2 nights and were very impressed with the standard of everything, we made sure that we had a 1st floor room with a large full length opening window which enabled us to get plenty of ventilation as it was a sunny couple of days, the room and bathroom were spotless with a very good shower, you do get outside noise as it is outside the railway station, but the glazing was good and with the window shut it was minimal, they did warn us it was a noisy side of the hotel but it did not bother us in any way even with the window open. The food was good and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The position of the hotel is perfect for walking to any part of the city with an open top bus tour stop outside the hotel. The hotel was an excellent choice for us

"I am very happy .....”

I chose The Royal Hotel. What more can you want than a clean and inviting hotel with very pleasant and professional staff, good food , a comfortable bed and close proximity to shops and places of interest.I especially like the special touch of a cafetiere in the room, a towel and slippers provided for the Thermae Bath Spa - I was on a spa break. A very happy guest.

"So pleased!”

I have recently stayed in this hotel with my friend for a weekend away. What a fantastic experience! The staff were lovely, especially Emilie on the front desk! The location on the hotel is fantastic, so near to all of the sights in bath and is so easy to get to. Our room was beautiful and big, with a lovely bathroom. Breakfast was lovely with a variety of choices, all cooked freshly. We asked for a quiet room but as were in the centre of bath, there was bound to be a little noise, but we had a great night’s sleep. We will definitely be going back as soon as we can!

"Perfect for a solo traveller”

Visiting the UK from NZ, I decided on a spontaneous trip to Bath and on arrival from the railway station spotted The Royal Hotel across the road. Not only did they offer me a great rate for a room, they accommodated my request for a noon check in. The room was elegant and spacious with a fabulous bath; perfect for unwinding in. However my foremost impression is the magnificent staff at the Royal-extremely helpful and friendly; nothing was a bother. The hotel has a cosy homely feel; it is beautifully furnished and the location is amazing. Everything you could possibly want to do is on your doorstep and for me, a woman travelling alone, it was particularly ideal because of being so central. I cannot recommend the hotel strongly enough; I hope I return soon.

"Very enjoyable break”

We stayed on the 2 night bed, breakfast and evening meal deal. The hotel is ideally situated near the city centre, we paid extra for the on-site parking, at £8.20 per night this eradicated any parking issues. The whole staff we met were a credit to the hotel, polite, smiling and attentive throughout our stay. Breakfast and evening meals were really tasty and well presented. The room on the 3rd floor was functional, although it was really hot at night but this is no real problem when you only stay 2 nights. I would not hesitate to stay at the Royal Hotel again.

"The Royal Hotel Bath”

Really lovely, clean friendly hotel right by Bath Spa Station and a short walk to the Spa. The staff are really welcoming, the food is excellent and the rooms are really clean and comfortable. This was our second visit and we will definitely stay there again next time we go to Bath.

"Pleasant station hotel experience”

Of course Bath is not an inexpensive site, but the hotel location and staff make it totally worth the expense. The room although small is excellently appointed including a French press and coffee. Wow. The bed was comfortable and there was just room to exercise on our yoga mats. Recommend any spa package they offer a fine value. The staff was very cheery and helpful. We had afternoon tea in the restaurant and it was lovely tea, scones and clotted cream. Jolly.

"Excellent hotel!”

The Royal hotel is well located, easy to find, just across the Bath Spa railway station. It is walking distance to the centre of the city (roman baths, cathedral, etc.) Very quiet hotel. Our room was large with a very nice bathroom. It was quiet, very clean. The hotel also has an elevator so you do not have to climb the stairs with your luggage. Parking is not far from the hotel, adjacent to the police station. The hotel personnel is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is excellent and is served in a nice dining room.

"Bank holiday break”

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Royal. You will be aware from other reviews that the Hotel enjoys a great location. I would also add that the Hotel was easy to find, just follow the directions to the Railway Station. All the staff were pleasant and helpful and very professional at all times. Our room was traditional and comfortable. Our room faced the back and we weren't bothered by any noise. The food at breakfast and evening was very good with a nice choice of dishes. We booked on a two night special break with was excellent value. Would definitely stay at the Royal in future.

"An excellent hotel in a beautiful city”

The Royal Hotel is conveniently located, close to the Cathedral, Baths, shops, restaurants and the stations. Outside the hotel there is real buzz, inside the hotel our room was quiet, clean and a perfect sanctuary after a busy day of sightseeing. The hotel colleagues were friendly and knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you.
