Christmas is undoubtedly one of the best times of year to visit Bath. Our old cobbled streets really come to life, adorned with thousands of festive lights, market stalls, and activity. Whether you’re planning a day-trip or a weekend stay, we’ll introduce you to what Bath has to offer in December.
Bath Abbey
Bath Abbey is always picture perfect during the festive season. Alongside its beautiful aesthetics, there are plenty of activities happening inside. The Light of Stars Exhibition runs from 27th November, or enjoy the abbey’s unmatched acoustics with plenty of Christmas choirs and carols.
Bath Christmas Market
Bath Christmas Market is a much anticipated event, and every year hundreds of stalls selling all manner of festive delights line the streets. From homemade jewellery and personalised gifts to a range of seasonal foods, it’s the perfect place to soak up the festive feeling- and get a bit of Christmas shopping done!
Bath on Ice
Located in Victoria Park is Bath’s 1000 square metre ice rink. After gliding across the smooth ice to the sound of festive tunes, you can either enjoy a round of glow golf or a hot drink and seasonal snack in the nearby alpine bar.
Festival of Light at Longleat
For spectacles to see near Bath, the Festival of Light at Longleat is one to behold. Perfect for couples and families, the festival is an immersive experience featuring an interactive lantern trail, an enchanted Christmas tree show, festive house tour and even a Santa train.
Christmas Panto at the Theatre Royal
The Theatre Royal stands as an iconic venue characteristic of Bath’s cultural history. Every year, their pantomime taps into British theatrical history as a whole, and is a light-hearted activity for families with children to entertain.
Festive Craft
To get your creative juices flowing, why not take part in a bit of festive craft? One Royal Crescent holds various crafting events each year, with 2024 being the year of photo frame baubles. Usually, their crafts are included in the price of admission to the museum.
