Bath is the largest city in Somerset and is also, quite remarkably, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This means that it is classed as an area of historical and cultural importance – due in the most part to its deep ties to the Romans.
We imagine that this alone gives you enough reason to consider taking a trip here at some point in 2022 – but what should you do whilst you’re in the city? The Roman Baths
First things first, you can’t visit a world heritage city and not take in one of the most remarkable parts of it. So, once you’ve landed in Bath, we recommend you start your day at the Roman Baths. You’ll get an insight into what life was like for the Romans and begin your trip with a huge dose of culture and history. And, once you’ve done here, for a bonus point you could jump across to the neighbouring Bath Abbey and climb to the top of the tower – for some pretty spectacular views.
Royal Victoria Park
Once you’ve had your taste of culture, we recommend exploring the wonderful Royal Victoria Park. Also steeped in history, having been opened in 1830, you’ll find the perfect combination of greenery, nature and play areas for the kids.
Retail Therapy
SouthGate, Milson Street, Walcot Street – three incredible options for you if you’re looking to do a bit of shopping during your trip. And why not? Certainly, our advice is that once you’ve enjoyed some culture and green space, you head-on into some of the city’s shopping areas. Live Entertainment & Local Refreshments
Finally, it’s time to enjoy some live music and refreshments. There is a huge range of fantastic bars in Bath, many of them serving local ale or gin from nearby distilleries. There is then a range of live music venues in the city that showcase upcoming and experienced artists, all year round.
