Pizza, pasta, gelato – sounds good, right? They’re all lovely foods and they have one thing in common, they come from Italy! Unfortunately, the small matter of a 1,286 miles journey means that the historic European city isn’t easily accessible – certainly not on a regular basis! Thankfully, there is no shortage of top-quality Italian restaurants here in Bath, for all to enjoy.
To help you pick a wonderful Italian eatery that suits you, here’s our local expert guide to the best Italian restaurants in the city…
Sotto Sotto
We can’t start proceedings with any other restaurant than Sotto Sotto. Just take a quick look at their Trip Advisor ratings and you’ll see how well regarded this place is. Indeed, it was voted ‘Best Italian Restaurant in Bath’ at a recent Bath Good Food Award ceremony. They pride themselves on simplicity – using quality ingredients to make incredible food.
Martini
This place doesn’t just serve up Italian food, it is run by an Italian family who claim, in their own words, that customers become Italian during their visit! Nunzio and Franco are proud restaurant owners that aim to deliver a traditional, authentic Italian experience – with a range of homemade pastas, stone-baked pizzas and fine cheeses on offer.
Amarone
Unique, independent and known as one of the finest Italian restaurants in the city – Amarone is another eatery we couldn’t leave off the list. Situated in an old Georgian building, this restaurant is well known for serving up freshly prepared pasta dishes, local steaks and a range of fine wines.
Ponte Vecchio
Looking to combine good food and a great view? Well if so, Ponte Vecchio might be the place for you. Set next to the famous Poultney Bridge, you’ll get to eat top-quality Italian cuisine and sample the best Italian wines, with a waterfront view. Little tip from us to you – the tiramisu comes highly recommended!
The Royal Hotel, Bath
Ok, so we don’t serve Italian food (our French-themed restaurant, Brasserie Brunel, does come highly rated though), but we can offer amazing accommodation in our traditional, Grade II listed hotel. So, if you’re looking for somewhere to stay after your Italian meal, give us a call. We’re on 01225 463 134, or you can book online for the best prices.
