One of the country’s most unique art collections sits just metres from The Circus in the middle of Bath, and it makes for a fascinating visit if you’re staying in accommodation in Bath. The Museum of East Asian Art is all about surprises and a little bit of the east right in our most elegant city.
Housed in a Georgian town house, the museum is the country’s only museum with an emphasis of the arts found in East and Southeast Asia, and it’s home to stunning jades, ceramics and bronzes to name just a few of its collections. Nearly 2000 artefacts (some dating from 5000 BC) offer the museum’s visitors a glimpse into another world, and the jade collection is one of the most extensive to be found in the UK.
The bamboo carvings are breathtaking, and are believed to be amongst the finest in Europe, so expect to be impressed if you visit this ever-popular Bath attraction. The best museums are the ones that strive to be engaging for all ages, and this one is happily one of them. There are events throughout the year, and the special exhibitions are updated regularly, enjoy.
