We finally got to have our very belated weekend away, was due here in March to celebrate our Silver Anniversary but Covid had other ideas!
It was well worth the wait.
We arrived just before 1pm fully knowing our room would probably not be ready but hoping to park our car in a pre booked space, we got lucky! We then found our way into the main shopping area to get lunch and then we were booked in to visit the Roman Baths.
Late afternoon we returned, collected our key and found our room. We were on the 3rd floor right opposite the train station.
Our room was comfortable and a good size. We had a problem with our bedding which was sorted whilst we were at dinner.
The decor is definitely in fitting with the style of the hotel, creamy floor boards add to the history of it!
Water, biscuits, tea and ground coffee are supplied in the room which was fantastic.
If I had one niggle it would probably be to possibly have a blind at the windows, as they high up and the bed underneath when day breaks the light comes in under the curtains!
Now the food in the restaurant of the hotel is second to none, I ate some of the best food I’ve ever tasted, I looked forward to every mealtime. Lovely choices and a great wine list.
Breakfast was equally as good. All cooked fresh and piping hot.
We did all the touristy things, boat trips, bus trips, Roman Baths, loads of walking plus a trip to Sally Lunns is a must.
My husband and I will definitely be returning as he wants to travel by train next time!
