Had a 2 night mini break deal at this hotel which included bb & evening three course evening meal. Its an old hotel and the floor boards reflect that in their creaking as you walk around the room and corridors, this didn’t affect our stay however as the staff were excellent as was the food. Full English on offer for breakfast with a buffet of fruit, cereals and various yogurt + a choice of fruit juices, you could have kippers and other egg configurations so plenty to choose from which certainly set you up for the day. Evening meal had a great menu with Tiger prawns, pate, onion soup and a soup of the day for starters. Mains again a good selection from lamb (which I had, perfect) to shoulder of beef or sea bass and the choice of various steaks, there was also a vegetarian option. Dessert had apple crumble, sticky toffee pudding, Eton mess and finished off with cheese board glass of port and coffee. We couldn’t fault any of the food we had and seemed the same opinion of other guests we spoke to. The Royal was great for discovering Bath on foot and for us situated across the road from the railway station very convenient. The room itself was just what we needed had ensuite facilities and tea and coffee. Overall we enjoyed our stay here and have no problem recommending this hotel for a short stay in Bath.
